Thomas Cheverie

Obituary of Thomas Edward Cheverie

Thomas (Tom) Edward Cheverie, 66, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. In lieu of a memorial service, a celebration of life will take place at Camellia Manor in Holly Hill, SC on Saturday, September 24, 2022.

Tom was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Marshall and Marguerite Cheverie. He grew up in Stoughton, and spent 23 years in the Air Force, retiring as Senior Master Sergeant, the second highest rank for an enlisted military man. His military career brought him all over the world, having traveled to over 43 countries.

Tom embraced life to the fullest, especially enjoying his retirement in the Del Webb Cane Bay community: with his wife and dozens of friends, golf cart rides, playing weekly poker, and joyrides with his family on their speedboat. He was a devout Tom Brady fan and a prankster with an endless supply of dad jokes. Known for his artisan carpentry skills, Tom assisted many neighbors and friends with house projects, with no project too small.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 5 years, Geralyn Cheverie, his son Brian Cheverie and Swift Everdy of Vermont, daughter Tammy and Michael Ouellette of New Hampshire, daughter Cheyanne Cheverie of Alaska, and son Preston Cheverie of South Carolina, grandchildren Kyle Ouellette, Lexi Ouellette, Ryatt Everdy, Dakota Cheverie, and Wesley Cheverie. He is survived by his siblings Christine Fox, Marsha and Rick Baglole and Jean and Jimmy Loud of Massachusetts, and James Cheverie of Florida. He is also survived by his step-children Richard A. DePue, Alaina and Noel I. Echevarria, Caitlin and Jason Wallace, and Alex and Olivia DePue, and step-grandchildren, Coraleigh Byrne, London Echevarria, Gabriel Lopez and Noel I. Echevarria Jr. Tom was predeceased by his brother in law, Martin Fox.

His family takes great comfort with the knowledge that Tom is somewhere in a clear, turquoise ocean, doing what he loved best: driving the boat, jumping in the cool blue water and snorkeling. Tom left an indelible mark on the community and those who knew him. He will be dearly missed
