In Memory of Oliver Daniel Tumbleston, Jr.
1963-2022

Oliver Daniel (Dan) Tumbleston, Jr., aged 58 years of Charleston, SC passed away on the morning of August 5, 2022, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with kidney cancer. Dan was born on August 29, 1963 to Barbara and Oliver Tumbleston.

He graduated from Garrett High School and Trident Technical College and attended The Citadel Evening Program. He is retired from Averitt Express with over 26 years of service.

Dan loved his church and was a good and faithful servant. He served as an Elder multiple times and was on numerous committees. He was also the head of the Board for the St. Andrews Presbyterian Weekday School. He felt a passion for the education and growth of young people.

Dan was an avid tennis player and fan of the sport. One of his favorite memories was visiting center court at Wimbledon. He commented every year that he wanted to see Roland Garros and the Wimbledon tournaments.

His love of travel took him and Dana, his wife around the globe. Dan’s favorite place in the world was Monteverde, Costa Rica, where he went zip lining and hiked the bridges in the Cloud Forest. He also had a fondness for Yellowstone National Park and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Dan is preceded in death by his father, Oliver Tumbleston, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Dana, and his mother, Barbara. He will be missed and always loved by his friends and family. Dana always tells the story that after one date, she knew she met the man she would marry!

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the fall when the weather is more favorable. The service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church at the picnic shelter and will require casual attire. Information regarding the service is forthcoming.
