Obituary of Marcene McCurdy

Marcene McCurdy, age 73, of Ladson, South Carolina, passed away on August 24, 2022. Born in Ravenna, OH, she was the daughter of the late Louis Maccioli, Jr. and Gladys Jean (Wareham) Maccioli.

Marcene was a graduate of Newton Falls High School in Ohio in 1967. She attended college near her home in Newton Falls and achieved a degree in administration and clerical studies. She led a career in medical administration and before retiring, she worked at the Medical University of South Carolina Neuroscience Department for 22 years. Throughout her life Marcene continued her education in biblical study, music, and teaching. She was a Sunday school teacher, children’s education director, adult Christian educator, singer in church choirs. She volunteered with multiple charitable events and animal rescues. Her favorite part of life was that of a treasured wife, mother, and grandmother. Marcene was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Donald E. McCurdy.

She is survived by one daughter, Erin Christine (McCurdy) Arnold, one grandson, Benjamin Jacob Parham, one granddaughter, Sarah-Grace Parham, one great-grandson, Jace Dean Vicini, all of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by one sister Colene (Maccioli) Steen of Leavittsburg OH and one sister-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” (McCurdy) Persin of Newton Falls OH, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on September 11, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at the First Church of God of Summerville, 10383 Hwy 78 E., Summerville, SC 29483.
