Obituary of David Hamilton McEwan

David Hamilton McEwan, age 74, passed away Oct. 17, 2022. He was born in Stanford, CT in July of 1949, son of Thomas and Jane McEwan. He also lived in Basking Ridge NJ, Santa Monica CA, New York NY, Cognac France and Bluffton SC during his life. He was a graduate of Cate School and Columbia University. David had a long and distinguished career with Jos. E Seagram & Sons, Inc. His position there before retirement was Vice President Marketing with Martell Cognac.

He leaves behind his wife Elizabeth, children Ian and Jenna, grandson Ethan, three brothers- Thomas, Robert and Charles, and cousin Michael.

David loved reading about history and may own more books about Winston Churchill than most libraries. He loved his cat Yates and his Labradors Gaston and Mina. He enjoyed watching sports, talking politics, and delivering a well-timed joke. Most of all, he loved his children, and was a patient, thoughtful and supportive father.

He has requested that there be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local public library or school library
