Obituary of David Warren Ackley Henning

David Warren Ackley Henning, Sr., husband of Willie Mae White Henning, entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 8, 2022, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. Born in December 23, 1936, in Trenton New Jersey, he was the son of the late Leroy Chester Henning, Sr., and the late Emma Jane Ladue Henning. Educated at schools in Pennsylvania, Florida, California, and Texas, he entered the Air Force in 1955 and was stationed in Charleston. After his honorable discharge from the Air force, he remained in North Charleston, where he met his future wife Willie Mae White, whom he married on January 18, 1958. He worked as a bus mechanic for the Charleston County School District until his retirement in 2021. He attended Wando Woods Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his brother Leroy Henning, Jr., and his sister Emma Jane Henning Romero.

He is survived by his widow Willie Mae of the home and his sons: David, Jr., of Des Moines, Iowa; Mark (Cheyrl) of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; Jerry of Knightsville, South Carolina; and Scott (Michelle) also of Moncks Corner.

Also surviving are his grandchildren: Tonya H. (Ryan) Lorentzen, David (Kylie) Henning III, Teena H. Paxton, Tabbitha H. (Doug) Biehn, Devin (Ashley) Henning, all of Iowa; Tevin (Jazmin) Henning, of North Carolina; Kris (Kaitlyne) Henning, of Moncks Corner; Makayla Henning, of Knightsville; and Trinity Henning, of Moncks Corner.

Surviving great-grandchildren include Conner, Illiana, Ashton, David IV, Layna, Sage, Aleyah, Trent, Kara, Lucas, Jessa, Dodge, Jaxen, Kairi, Avery, and Parker.

Additionally, he is survived by sister-in-law Louise W. Calcutt and brothers in law Kenneth White and Roger White as well as many nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Simplicity Lowcountry, Ladson. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be held at Carolina Memorial Gardens at 3PM.
