Sandra Baker

Obituary of Sandra Bartolo Baker

Sandra Bartolo Baker was born on February 27th, 1951, in Bataan, Philippines, Sandra entered eternal rest on Saturday December 3rd, 2022, at the age of 71. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Joseph “O” Baker Jr.; her daughter Kimberly Baker; her two sons Joseph Baker III and Jimmie Baker; her daughters-in-law Ira and Yvette Baker; her five beloved grandchildren: Angelo, JB, Isa, Jonah, and Ivy; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Philippines.

Sandra was a devout Catholic and member of Saint Johns the Beloved Catholic Church in Summerville, SC.   She supported her husband along his 22-year Navy career and continued to support him with love and encouragement throughout her life. One of Sandra’s most loved activities was cooking for her family and others in her kitchen. She was an amazing cook and would openly say that she could beat Bobby Flay in a throwdown. Sandra would share her passion for cooking by somehow finding out what your favorite dish was and would nail it on the first try. She would then drop the top on her Mustang and break every speed limit to quickly turn your day around by delivering you her creations. She received so much joy and happiness in doing these acts of kindness.  The combination of her bright smile, her genuine laugh, and her unique way with words was so powerful, it was contagious.  She also thoroughly enjoyed listening to music while spending time in her garden, caring, and nurturing for her vast array of plants and flowers. Sandra found so much joy in seeing them all grow so tall, so strong, and so, so beautiful! She would often say, “if you do not water them, keep light on them and keep them safe from the weeds, they will not grow.” That is exactly how she was with her three children. She watered them with kindness and love. She was the light in their lives that would shine upon them with such grace and humility. Sandra would do anything to protect her children from the weeds of life, keeping them safe from harm and giving them the ability to grow up, tall, strong, and beautiful. Her family will carry on her legacy by honoring all the lessons that she has taught them and carry them into the next generation.

In honor of her life there will be a funeral mass and reception at Saint John's Beloved Catholic Church, located at 28 Sumter Ave, Summerville SC, 29483, on the 16th of December at 2 pm.  Please send all offerings to the church.
