Robert Thames

Obituary of Robert Eugene Thames

Robert Eugene Thames, 67, of Moncks Corner, SC went home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2022. He was lovingly known to many as “BT”, “Bob”, “Bobby” and most importantly, “Dad” and “Popo”.

BT was born on March 29, 1955 in Nashville, TN and gave his heart to Jesus at a young age, which set the foundation for his years to come. BT was a proud graduate of Goose Creek High School and regularly attended football games to cheer on his Gators. His support for Gator football was only matched by his loyalty to his beloved University of South Carolina Gamecocks.

BT found joy in sharing his love for the Lord and cooking a meal for others; frequently using his talents to serve at Freedom Church. BT was a family man who loved reading books with his grandchildren and attending their activities. His special “Love Runs” to Krispy Kreme, Dairy Queen and Sam’s Club will always be cherished by his daughters.

BT is survived by his daughters Amy Garvalia (Paul) of Moncks Corner and Lindsey Brown (Steven) of Ladson, his 6 grandchildren Colton, Sullivan, Reid, Wiles, Olivia and Amelia, mother Jean Wheaton, sisters Terri Roberts, Debbie Driggers, Carolann Bryant (Jim), and several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends Jon and Stacy Kisner. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Thames, two stepfathers Morris Hickman and Bud Wheaton, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Freedom Church in Moncks Corner, SC. You are encouraged to wear your favorite Gamecocks or team apparel to honor BT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Agape Hospice in BT’s name.
