Obituary of Anne Way Parker

Mrs. Clara Anne Way Parker, age 90, widow of Dr. Jack Parker passed away on February 8, 2023. Mrs. Parker was born on July 13, 1932, in Sumter, SC. She the daughter of the late Almon L. and Clara G. Way of Greenville, SC. At the time of her passing Mrs. Parker was living at the home of her son, Donald Edward Barker, Jr. and his wife, Anna, and daughter, Chrissy in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Mrs. Parker was a 1950 graduate of Greenville Senior High School and an alum of Winthrop College. For a number of years, she had worked in insurance and real estate, but her last employment had been as office manager and paralegal with Bailey & Hardaway, PA, Patent & Trademark Attorneys. As a child, Mrs. Parker studied tap dancing and piano and later entertained at USO gatherings and played for church services at her local church. During WWII, she was selected and participated with her mother in the Christening of the LSM 392 landing ship built at the Charleston Navy Yard where her father had participated. In her middle and high school years she enjoyed being a majorette with the high school bands at Easley and Greenville. Mrs. Parker was a very loyal and loving person who found joy in family and giving of herself to others. Although Mrs. Parker had been a church member for most of her life, in 1990 she prayed to receive Christ as her Savior and committed her life to Him.  

Mrs. Parker was predeceased by her parents and an older brother, Dr. Almon L. Way, Jr. She is survived by her son, Mr. Edward Barker (Anna) and granddaughter, Chrissy of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Kimberly Kruger of Morriston, Florida; granddaughter, Naomi Duvall (Clifford) of Ocala, Florida; brothers, Capt. James D. Way (Janet) of Corona, California, and Dr. John G. Way (Betty) of Oakland, TN. 

Graveside service to be held at Mt Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Rd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464 at 2:30 pm on February 18, 2023.
