Obituary of Shirley Mitchum Benenhaley

Shirley Mitchum Benenhaley, 55 of Summerville, SC passed away unexpectedly early Friday March 3, 2023. Shirley was a daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother all gone too soon. Shirley loved watching Nascar with husband and was a fan of the South Carolina Gamecock. She attended Freedom Church on Sundays, and was a part of Sisterhood on Tuesday evenings for a little while. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Chuck) Benenhaley, and her father Ernest Mitchum. Surviving are her mother Susie Mitchum; her son Justin Carreiro, her daughter Carrie Culp; four grandsons Ethan and Lucas Carreiro, Paxton and Preston Culp; two granddaughters Jordyn Carreiro and Peyson Culp. Shirley also leaves behind four sisters, Elaine Mitchum Cooper (Ron), Deann Mitchum Craven (Frankie), Susan Mitchum Dubose (Daniel), and Heather Mitchum Yount (Jeff). Her family and friends will miss her tremendously.

There will be a service Friday March 10, 2023, from 2 – 3pm at Simplicity Funeral Home, 7475 Peppermill Pkwy. North Charleston, SC 29418. Memorials can be sent directly to the family, flower can be sent to 230 Pemberly Blvd. Summerville, SC 29686.
