Obituary of Kimberly Renee Simpson McConnell

Kimberly Renee Simpson McConnell (51) of Charleston, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 surrounded by family and loved ones.  She is survived by her mother Cynthia, father Doug Sr (Carol), daughter Lydia (Hunter), brother Doug Jr (Leslie), nephew Douglas III, and niece Griffin.

Kim graduated from Wando High School with honors and obtained her Associates Degree in Healthcare Administration with Honors from the University of Phoenix.

She had an incredibly strong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and began each day with devotions and scripture reading. Her daughter’s cherished memory is receiving her First Communion wearing the long white eyelet dress handmade by her grandmother and worn by Kim at her First Communion.

Kim was an accomplished gymnast, dancer, and graphic artist. She also loved surfing, hiking, fishing, snorkeling, and restoring historic homes in downtown Charleston.

Kim was deeply loved by her family, who were faithfully at her side through her final breath.  Her death reminds us that life is precious and can be taken from us at any time, and we all should cherish every moment with our loved ones.

A private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later a date.
