Obituary of Margaret Nell Jackson

Margaret Nell Jackson was born June 6, 1964 in Charleston, South Carolina. A life-long Charlestonian, she was raised and went to school on Johns Island. She worked in the trucking business for 30+ years, including working at the ports of Charleston early on in her career. She eventually owned her own trucking company, Polaris Intermodal.

Margaret was pre-deceased by her parents, Joe Scarborough and Mary Helen Conn, her brother Michael, and her sister Cheryl. She is survived by her husband Jeff, her sisters Rose and Lydia (David), brother Travis (Carla), daughters Angela (Stephen), Samantha (Casey), and Terri Lynn, and son JJ. She was Nana to Stephen “Lee” (23, Camrin), Elizabeth “Lizzy” (21, Gary), William “Scotty” (17), Isabella (13), Easton (11), Jamal (10), Charlotte (5) and Great-nana to grandsons Lucas (2) and Jakob (1), with a great-granddaughter on the way.

Margaret was the most fun-loving soul. She never met a stranger she didn’t turn into a friend and was hardly seen without a smile. She loved fishing and her dogs (Abby, Bitsy, Callie, and D-O-G). She could talk to you for quite a long time about each of her pups. Margaret loved country music, so much so that she seemed to always win the free tickets from the local WEZL radio channel, and she frequently attended the Carolina Country Music Fest in Myrtle Beach on her birthday every year. When Margaret married Jeff for the second time, she surprised him at family Thanksgiving by having her daughters walk out with flowers and she followed them in a white dress and veil. Her mother was still alive at the time and was so glad to watch her daughter marry the love of her life (again)! For years, the family has played a gift-exchange game at family Christmas. Somehow (somehow!) Margaret’s family always ended up getting whatever they (she!) wanted. Margaret loved her family through-and-through, and she will be dearly missed by all of us.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 1:30pm at Harbor Lake Baptist Church (1056 Red Bank Road, Goose Creek). Reception to follow at 141 North Lake Shore Drive, Goose Creek.
