Obituary of Marissa / Micheal Lee Brown

It is with great sorrow to announce the unexpected passing of Micheal “Marissa” Lee Brown on Wednesday April 26, 2023. Micheal was 57 years old, was born on August 18, 1965, in Jacksonville Florida. He had a short but fulfilling life. Marissa/Micheal was a hard-working handy man who worked on Kiawah Island for more than 33 years. Micheal/Marissa was well known and loved throughout the Lowcountry. During her last decade she loved going out to different restaurants, pool halls, and bars with friends, and relaxing at the house, spending time with family.

He/She enjoyed fishing, boating, intercoastal waterways, camping and Nascar Races. She was proud of her Chinese lineage, believed fiercely in God and Jesus Christ, and thanked God for every day that he had. Marissa/Micheal was free spirited, kind and generous, but didn’t take any BS. She/He was a wonderful friend but most of all a loving father and “pops.” Micheal/Marissa will always be loved and missed by all of the family including nieces and nephews, cousins, and her/his large extended family and friends.

Micheal was married for 23 years to Theresa Arnold Brown. He is predeceased in death, just 20 months by his daughter Sarah Fletcher Funk. He is survived by his Father Vernal Brown, Mother Barbara Hurst, brother Sonny Brown, sister Robin Rauhof and her/his 4 children and 9 grandchildren.

She/He is survived by his four remaining children, Brittany Brown Childs (Andy Childs), Zachary Brown, Nicholas Bodiford, and Nicole Brown. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ethan and Sylar Funk (Sarah), John A. von Lehe IV (Brittany), Christopher and Jackson Bodiford (Nicholas).

A memorial service will be held at Simplicity Funeral Home on Tuesday May 2, 2023, from 2pm-4pm. We invite all who want to come and celebrate the life of Micheal “Marissa” Lee Brown. The floor will be open to any that would like to speak and share their fondest memories
