Obituary of Enita "Penny" Ann Marsh
Enita Ann Marsh “Penny”, 71, of Summerville passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023.
Penny is survived by her amazing daughters, Elisha Butler (Nick Blair) and Rachel Cosby (Bryan Ollek), who knew her best as Ma. She will be greatly missed by grands. Nana adored the first-generation Justen Butler, Kylie Butler, Lexi Burbage, Jacob Cosby, and Payton Muckelvaney (all of whom claim to be the fav). Nana, turned into Boo Boo, was loved by Flynn Butler, Raeleigh Butler, and Lyric Levine, her great-grands. She crocheted them more hats and gloves than they ever wanted. Cherish your blankets and bootcuffs – that legacy has also passed. Forever remembered by her sisters, Loreen Martiniello and Roberta D’Ambrosio (you two can fight over who was the favorite), along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Penny was predeceased by her parents, 3 brothers and her mostly favorite daughter, Allison Muckelvaney (only because we are still here).
Penny was independent, strong-willed and, believe it or not, stubborn. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching reruns of Law and Order, and of course spending time with her family. She didn’t miss the opportunity to retell an old story, even if she told it 10 times before. She never turned her back on #12 (Go Pats!). She was somewhat opinionated - had an incredible ability give hers every time (usually loudly) and unsolicited. She did not want to be worm food (hence the cremation). Penny impacted so many and made great friends along her journey.
We are forever grateful for the support we shared these last few months. She was able to count on us taking shifts, Jacob’s late night snack deliveries and 548 packs of cinnamon gum, and Kylie’s taking one for the team. “Don’t make me slap you” was one of her last full sentences after Kylie aggravated her.
We are thankful for the staff and professionals of Summerville Medical Center, for the compassionate care provided to “Penny Girl” these past few years. A few left a positive impression which we will not forget – we appreciate you Jamaica, Amy L., Tiffany, Mo, Christian, Adam, Jordyn W., and the countless other professionals. Oakbrook Rehab was especially supportive in their understanding, guidance, and kindness during Penny’s stay.
She loved her family and friends more than anything in the world except maybe Lay’s Classic potato chips, Clamato cocktails, and cinnamon gum. She will be missed!
Celebration of Life gathering details will be shared soon with family and friends.
Signing off,
Rachel and Elisha (because she was first earlier)
