Howard Guenther

Obituary of Howard J Guenther

Howard J. Guenther died suddenly and unexpectedly on May 16, 2023, in the Coastal Carolina Emergency Room from a ruptured aortic aneurysm. He was born in Buffalo, NY, the first son of Howard Victor and Bertha Jordan Guenther, and was the brother of Mary Duhme of Redington Beach, FL, David Guenther of Kingwood, TX, and Kathleen Jordan of St. Augustine, FL.

He graduated from Clarkson University in 1959 with degrees in engineering and business where he met his future wife and best friend, Lillian. They were blessed with 62 wonderful years together.

Howard owned and operated a successful HVAC contracting company in NJ for over 30 years. He continued to take classes to maintain an active building inspector license. After his retirement in 2002, he started a second career with the Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity as the site supervisor involved in the total construction of 15 homes from design to certificate of occupancy. He was very proud of this work.

Howard loved his winter home for 21 years in South Carolina. Actively engaged in numerous Sun City activities, Bluffton activities and Osher Lifelong Learning classes, he considered his time there as camp.

Howard is survived by his wife Lillian and his four children and their spouses, Jordan (Annette) of Perryville, NJ, Anne (Ron) Zimmermann of Tucson, AZ., Carolyn (Christopher) King, of Lenox, MA, and Steven (Lori) of Mt. Lebanon, PA.

He loved his eight grandchildren: Kelsey and Derek Guenther, Mark and Sarah Zimmermann, Ella and Andrew King, and Garrison and Emory Guenther. He welcomed Mark’s wife Claire into our family and was looking forward to Kelsey and Lee’s wedding this fall.

He will be remembered as a loving, caring, honest, and practical person.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their sincere and comforting support at this time.
