Obituary of Richard Allen Russum, Jr

Richard Allen Russum Jr. of Summerville, SC passed away on June 2, 2023 at Trident Hospital. 

Allen (as most may know him by) was born in Portsmouth, VA to parents Ruby and Richard Russum Sr. He grew up with his sister Mary McCarty. 

Allen is survived by his grandmother Jerlene Bullock, his mother Ruby Russum, sister Mary McCarty. His ex wife,Lanie Russum.  His children Michael Sweeney, Ashley Reaves (Taylor), Richard Russum III (Hayley), Melissa Russum, and Elizabeth Papizan. His grandchildren Analece, Emersyn, Stella, Ainsley, Odin, and Gio. And also his niece and nephew Anna Morris and Justin McCarty. 

From his child hood Allen has always loved anything involving the outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, looking for sharks teeth, and laying in his hammock. 

Allen loved spending time with his children and more so his grandkids. Living with his son Richie and his wife Hayley for the past year he spend at lot of his time as "Pepaw" to their daughter Ainsley. 

Allen's number one goal everyday was to make people laugh. He always had a joke, no matter the situation. He could put a smile on anyone's face, and he made sure to. He tried to make the best out of his life, anytime you would ask him how's he doing he would always say "Another day in paradise"! 

The memorial service will be held at Simplicity Lowcountry,

On June 20, 2023 from 1-3pm. This will be a time for visitation with his family and friends.
