Obituary of Lester Goff

GOFF, John Lester, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2023.  He was born in Aynor, SC to Eddie Rochell Goff Sr and Doreatha Tyler on April 9, 1936.  He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Helen Marie Richardson, his brother Leamon Goff of Goose Creek, SC and his sisters Wilma Cassitty, Jeanette Johnson and Irma Jean Gerrald, all of Aynor, SC.  He is survived by his brothers, Herman Goff of Charleston, SC, Eddie Goff and Alfred Goff, both of Aynor, SC and his sister Ann Roberts also of Aynor, SC.  He relocated to Charleston, SC with his loving wife and began his career in sales.  He is survived by his children, Steve L. Goff (Debbie), Lester B. Goff (Donna) and Mary Ellen Conner (Jamie).  He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Angela Farr (Ashley), Stephanie Phillips (Mark), Alex Goff (Brittany), Kevin Goff (Samantha) and Patrick Conner.  He loved his 7 great grandchildren, Parker, Evelyn, Jett, Emory, Penelope, Rosie and Waylon.  He loved farming, fishing, camping, traveling and being with friends and family.  His primary focus was doing the Lord’s work by being a good neighbor, a loving husband, a caring father and an involved Pa.  He was known for his sense of humor, green thumb, small engine repair work, wisdom, storytelling and always having a pack of nabs in his pocket.

A visitation will be held at his home church of Wando Woods Baptist Church in North Charleston on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 10:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am.  The burial will be immediately following the service at Live Oak Cemetery in Charleston, SC.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to send a memorial contribution to Wando Woods Baptist Church at 4123 Dorsey Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405 to celebrate his life and his love for his church.
