Obituary of Daniel "Tex" Brad Alger

Daniel ''Tex'' Brad Alger passed away at his residence with family at his bedside. Daniel had been dealing with multiple health issues since 2017. After an almost month long battle with medical issues, he was released into hospice care at his home. All the way to the end he fought just like he always did in life, but his body could not fight any longer. On July 2nd 2023 his heart stopped beating and he went home to be with our Lord and savior. He was 79 years old. 

 

Daniel was born in Charleston SC on August 3rd, 1943 at the Old Roper hospital. He was raised in Summerville SC by His parents Lloyd E. Alger Sr. and Ruth “Drawdy” Alger. Daniel had Three siblings, Elisabeth ''Libby'' Coker, Peggy Mixon and Terry O. Alger. Daniel was preceded in death by his family.

 

As a teenager, he met his soulmate, Jeannette Mary ''Adams'' Alger also of Summerville and they were married on October 28th, 1961 and were married for 61 years. Daniel is survived by his wife, three children, and two daughter in laws, Mark D. and Janice Alger, of  Ruffin SC, Amy D. Alger of Summerville SC and Phillip and Janet Alger of Monck's Corner SC.

 

They also have five grand children, Crystal Punch from Catawba North Carolina, Dillon Alger from Ruffin SC, Jenna and Kailee Alger of Monck's corner SC. And Michael Mooney of Monck's Corner SC. Together they also have five great-grand children, Haley and Mathew Floyd, Cheyenne Souleyrette, Emerie and Endsley Punch all from Catawba North Carolina.

 

Daniel attended Summerville High school where he played foot ball and did some boxing. He went on to work at the Charleston Naval ship yard for a few years and did other technical jobs. Daniels passion was commercial and residential up fits and remodels and he started his own business, Service and repair in the early 1990's. Daniel employed his sons and other family members and taught them the trade. During its active years, Service and repair completed countless projects all over the Ti-county area. Daniel retired from the business in 2006. Daniel attended many different churches over the years but was not a member of any. Daniel received his salvation at a young age and was a christian.

 

Daniel enjoyed fishing, bowling, drawing, carpentry, spending time with family and watching stock car racing. He loved to watch westerns, cops shows and horror movies.

 

Daniel requested that he not have a funeral and he will be cremated. There will be a celebration of life for Daniel tentatively on August 3rd 2023 which would have been his 80th birthday.  Place and time are still to be determined.
