Obituary of Carol Glemaker Bouguyon
Carol Glemaker Bouguyon,
July 25th, 1946 - June 19th, 2023
Mount Pleasant, SC
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Glemaker Bouguyon, who peacefully left us on June 19th, 2023. She was born on July 25th, 1946 and lived a remarkable life full of love, adventures, accomplishments, and cherished memories.
Carol’s journey began in Chicago, Illinois, where she grew up and experienced the joys of childhood and adolescence with her parents, Alfred and Louise Glemaker and her brother Malcolm Glemaker. She went on to attend Butler University for a brief period of time before she decided to save her and her family money and come back home to join the workforce. She was a very successful secretary for Marriott Hotels in Chicago, Illinois until she was offered the opportunity of a lifetime to work on one of Marriott’s exclusive cruise lines, the Stella Solaris. Through this opportunity she was able to meet some amazing people from all over the world while traveling the world to places she had never dreamed that she’d be able to see in person, from the pyramids in Egypt all the way to Greece, etc.
Throughout her life, Carol demonstrated unwavering strength, unconditional kindness to everyone she met, and generosity to all. She was known for her bubbly personality, amazing sense of humor, upbeat positivity, and genuine compassion and consideration for everyone that she met. She had a gift where she never met a stranger and would connect with anyone she came in contact with almost immediately. Her presence alone brightened the lives of those around her and those lucky enough to have met her. She would be willing and able to give the shirt off her back to help someone in need that is in a tough spot or anyone of little financial means.
Carol had an immense passion for her church, working in the nursery and taking care of all of the babies, as well as spending time with her own baby boy- her son Clark, as well as singing, dancing, and bird watching.
Beyond her professional and social accomplishments and volunteering, Carol was a devoted wife, mother, and sister. She married Jacques Bouguyon in *1986* and their love and partnership flourished for 33*** WONDERFUL YEARS. Together, they raised their son, Clark, in which Carol deeply loved and cared for her family, and their bond was a source of true strength and happiness. Often referring to themselves as the “Three Musketeers,” they were a rare demonstration of how strong and beautiful the bond between a child and their parents can really be.
Carol was an unwavering source of love, support, and guidance to her son, and (at 45) for her to finally get what she always wanted in being a mother brought immense joy to her life.
Carol’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Her son Clark invites any and all family, friends, and colleagues to join him in a celebration of Carol’s life at her Memorial to be held on Sunday, July 23rd, from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Red’s Icehouse, 98 Church Street in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to
the ARK of South Carolina
and/or the Alzheimer’s Association be made to support these foundations as they lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia as well as provide support and assistance to family caregivers.
We invite all who knew and loved Carol to join us in honoring her memory and sharing stories of her at the service.

May Carol rest in eternal peace and be forever remembered for her legacy of love, compassion, and inspiration.
