Obituary of Gerrald Campbell
Gerrald Jerry Campbell, 79 of Johns Island, South Carolina passed away on July 18,2023 after a bout with cancer.
Jerry was born on September 20,1943 to Sptick Campbell and Thelma Lorraine Marie Campbell in Phoenix, AZ.
After Jerry graduated from Carlisle Military School Bamberg, South Carolina in 1961, he went on to work on the family farm.
After leaving the farm, he started his first job at the family's gas station working on cars. After that Jerry went to work at Charleston Lincoln Mercury in 1972 and in 1982 he went to work at Palmetto Ford and left in 1989 to open up Jerry’s Automotive and retired and sold shop in July 2012. Came out of retirement(for the love of cars) worked at Davis Garage for a few years and retired again in 2022.
In 1968, Jerry met Diana Stringer at The Dobbs House where she worked as a waitress .Jerry and Diana went on to have two children, Amelia L.(A’me) Campbell and Dannielle DeFoix Campbell (Clement)
In 2022, Jerry retired and spent his time with his family,boating,fishing,Clemson football and Nascar every Sunday. Didn’t matter what you were doing on a Saturday or Sunday, if there was a race on, he was in front of the TV with his best friend(Chase the dog).
Jerry was predeceased by Sptick Campbell(father) and Thelma Lorriane Marie Campbell(Mother). He is survived by Amelia ''A'me'' Campbell (Michael Daniel Tompkins), Dannielle DeFoix Clement (Philip Melanchthon Clement)
Grandchildren: Preston Hunter Bearden, (Amy Hyams Bearden) Kevin Claude Bearden Jr.(Tiffany), James Marshall Horne(Stephanie),Collin Ray McCoin, Ethan Scott McCoin, Kirsten Maire McCoin, Morgan Leigh Clement, Hunter Philip Clement.
Celebration of Life will be held at A’me and Mike’s house (which is Jerry’s home) 2754 Coquina Drive Johns Island, SC on July 29th from 5-7. Flowers can be sent to the house.
