Obituary of Gloria Dieppe Koster

Gloria Dieppe Koster, 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on July 30, 2023.  She was the daughter of Charles and Vernelle Tanner and had only one sister, Anne Tanner Gantt. She is a widow to both Peter Joseph Dieppe and William J Koster.  

     In her younger years, on any given Saturday night, you could find her shagging on Folly Beach pier with “Buddy” or playing Rook with her sister, mother and aunts. As her children got older and had families of their own, she became a sideline cheerleader for her grandchildren and especially her nephew, Eric Gantt as he played football for James Island High. Many James Islanders have fond memories of listening to her offer Warren Peper, local sportscaster, to borrow her glasses as he was clearly not seeing the plays to her liking. As father time caught up with her, she moved in with her daughter and family and became “Granny” to everyone. Not to mention, somehow, The Price is Right, Family Feud and the Hallmark Channel became the only shows available on tv. All of that being said, to anyone and everyone that truly knew her throughout her entire life, knew that her middle finger salute was her trademark (but usually meant in love).  

     She is survived by two sons, Peter Joseph Dieppe III and Charles Edward Dieppe and one daughter, Gloriann Dieppe Brantley, one daughter in law, Toni Cuomo Dieppe and one son in law, John Michael Brantley.  She was blessed with 7 incredible grandchildren. Kristin Dieppe McCrossen, Peter Joseph Dieppe IV and wife Meredith, Tanner Ray Dieppe, Steven Joseph Stirn, Hanna Elizabeth Stirn, Emily Ann Stirn and Chase Abbott Brantley. Her beautiful niece Martha Ann Agee, husband Charlie Agee, daughter Tiffany Agee and son Dennis Agee. Nephew Tom Evans, two sons Robert and Ryan Evans and daughter Chandler Evans. Great Niece Elizabeth Ann Gantt.  

     As per her wishes, she is being cremated and her children will spread her ashes over their fathers grave. A memorial/celebration of life will be held at a later date.
