Obituary for Melvin Stanek 

Melvin George Stanek, 76, of Summerville passed away August 3, 2023.  He was born December 7, 1946, in Cedar Rapids Iowa to Alfred and Evelyn (Kuehl) Stanek.   Melvin grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after serving in the United States Marine Corps, he spent many years living in Phoenix, AZ before relocating to Charleston, SC.  He enjoyed many things in life, but his love was for classic cars and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. 

Mr. Stanek is survived by his wife, Sandra (Zacharek) Stanek of Summerville; two stepsons: Jason Hayer and Eric Hayer; three sons: Jamie Stanek, Chad (Denise) Little and Shawn Little; daughter Danielle Stanek; sisters: Wanda Panos, Corrine Isam, Sheila (Rod) Vavra and Joanne (Gary) Gilbertson; and a brother Dale Stanek.  He is proceeded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Bill Panos and a sister-in-law Alberta Stanek. 

Arrangements are being handled by Simplicity Low Country Cremation and Burial Services, North Charleston.  There will be a memorial gathering August 18, 2023, Friday, from 2:30pm – 4:30pm with military honors being presented at 4:15pm at the James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 S. Main St., Summerville, SC  29483.
