Obituary of Charles William "Billy" Dennis II

North Charleston - Charles William "Billy" Dennis II, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home in North Charleston, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on August 9, 2023 after a short battle with a rare blood disorder. Billy was born in Charleston, SC on December 25, 1958, son of the late Charles William Dennis and Helen Dennis. He was a beloved husband to his wife Patti and an extremely proud and devoted father to his daughter Kristen and step-children Randy and Christina.

He graduated from Stall High School in 1977. He worked at the Robert Bosch plant in North Charleston for 41 years, retiring at age 60 as a quality technician.

Billy had a heart of gold and a soul like no other. His humor and friendliness made him a cherished and loyal friend to many. He never knew a stranger and would do most anything for anyone. Billy was an avid motorcycle rider. Every day was a good day to ride no matter what the weather was like. He was a member of the American Legion Riders Post 166 in Goose Creek, SC, Lowcountry Southern Cruisers Riding Club and SC Patriot Guard Riders Lowcountry Chapter. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 166, as his father served in the U.S. Army. He would always say "I was not in the service but it is now my turn to serve those who served for me". Billy loved going to the American Legion in Goose Creek, especially for Sunday breakfast, so he could catch up and socialize with everyone. He also like to go out in the boat to fish or just ride around and take in the scenery. He loved to dance, even if there was no music you could catch him dancing. He didn't care who he was dancing with, he danced with everybody.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife Patti Baird Baum Dennis of 22 years; his daughter Kristen Sweat (Philip) of Moncks Corner; step-children Randy Baum of Summerville and Christina DeBello of Summerville, 6 grandchildren Alex, Hunter, Dylan, Adara, Garian and Eloise; 2 sisters Bunny Morris (Mark) of Asheville, NC and Millie Bursey (Mark) of Garden City, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Charles William Dennis and Helen Dennis Wynn.

Patti and her family will forever be sincerely grateful for the many acts of kindness, prayers and visits to Billy during his illness. In memory of Billy, the family encourages everyone to express their love by hugging and telling those you love how much they mean to you. In every embrace, may we remember the love and warmth that Billy Dennis shared with all of us.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family will notify loved ones and friends once all the arrangements have been completed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Riders Post 166, 116 Howe Hall Road, Goose Creek, SC 29445 or National Bone Marrow Registry Program through "Be The Match" website.
