Obituary of Benito R Maggay

Benito R. Maggay of Moncks Corner, SC, age 64 passed away at his home on September 1, 2023.  Benito was born at the Naval Hospital in Charleston, SC.  He was the son of the late Guillermo Maggay and Marie R. Maggay of Moncks Corner. In addition to his father, Benito was predeceased by one brother, Angelo Maggay. 

Benito joined the US Navy after graduating from Berkeley High. He served 4 years in the Navy and was a Navy Veteran. He worked various jobs and mostly was a roofer.  He was a good cross word solver and took that after his late grandfather Simeon B. Ricafrente, Sr.  Benito loved to watch sports and was a football fan for a few teams.  He was a former weight lifter and competed a few times and was trained by his late uncle, Douglas Ricafrente.

In addition to his mother, Benito is survived by three brothers; Alonzo Maggay of Summerville, Christian Maggay, Gilbert Maggay (Shannon) of Moncks Corner; sister, Feliza Hill (Glyn) of Summerville; five nephews, Mario, Miguel, Victor, Geoffrey and Reed; three great nieces, Kira, Aurora "RoRo" and Elena Marie and two great nephews, Aedan and Max.

A memorial service is planned for later and will be held at his mother's home, 119 Benjamin Drive Moncks Corner, SC.
