Obituary of Charlie M. Cornett

Charlie M. Cornett passed away September 28, 2023 at the age of 76 surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 21, 1947 in Linefork, Kentucky to Mae & Giles Cornett. He served in the U.S. Army for 27 years. He volunteered at the age of nineteen to go to Vietnam. He married his sweetheart Betty Turner, in 1967 after returning from Vietnam. Their twin daughters Amanda Kaye & Anita Jo were born in 1969 and daughter Renee Susan in 1970.

He is survived by his wife Betty; daughters Amanda Terrell and Anita (Tony) French; grandchildren Chris, Nick, Aaron, Jessica, and Isabella. He was preceded in death by daughter Renee Susan Brannon and grandson Johnathan Johnson.

He served 27 years in the Army Signal Corp serving five overseas tours where he was always accompanied by his wife and daughters. Retiring in 1992, he received too many military awards and honors to mention. After his military service, he and Betty spent 25 years as real estate agents and brokers licensed in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. After his second retirement, he moved to his dream final home in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in 2013 where he died surrounded by his family.
