
Obituary of Reubin Vereen Fullwood Jr
Reubin Vereen Fullwood, Jr., affectionately known as Sonny, passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 73 at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Hospital in Charleston, SC. Sonny was born on November 8, 1949, in Conway, SC, Horry County. He was a proud Marine Veteran, having served in the USMC from 1968 to 1988. Sonny's dedication to his country and his fellow Marines was unwavering, and he proudly wore his USMC t-shirts and hats throughout his life.
Sonny was a hard worker and had a strong-willed personality. He loved spending time outdoors and doing things his own way. He cherished his family and held a special place in his heart for the Marine Corps. Sonny's legacy will live on through his loved ones and the memories they shared.
Sonny is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Porter Fullwood, his children: Tina Tippette and her husband Joey, Stacey Huggins and her husband Jonathan, Jessica Fullwood, and his step-children: Michelle Poston and her husband Arnie, and Anthony White and his wife Crystal. He was also a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Carisa, Brady, Wyatt, Charlie, Cynthia, McKenzie, Haize, Alisa, Johnny, Kirsten, Ray, Macayla, and five step-grandchildren: Erin, Eric, Holden, Jesse, and Anthony Jr. Additionally, Sonny was a great-grandfather to Kaydence, Brady Jr., Bella, Landin, and Ryker.
Sonny is also survived by his two brothers: Larry W. Fullwood and his wife Debbie, David M. Fullwood and his wife Tammy, and his six sisters: Barbara F. Bryant, Elaine F. Montgomery and her husband Roger, Janet F. Carter and her husband Terry, Donna F. Richardson, Carole F. Argenzio, and Christie F. Johnson and her husband Stevie. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Sonny was preceded in death by his father, Reubin V. Fullwood, Sr., his mother, Margaret Lucille McClain Fullwood Andrews, his step-father, Rev. Caroll Andrews, his great-granddaughter, Rylee Fullwood, his brother, Douglas H. Fullwood, his brother-in-law, Larry W. Bryant, and two step-children, Melissa Elliott and Benjamin Elliott.
Military services to honor Sonny's service in the USMC will be announced at a later date.
Sonny's determination, love for his family, and dedication to his country will be remembered by all who knew him. May he rest in peace at his final duty station. Semper Fi
