Obituary of Fred Michael Kirkland

Fred “Michael” Kirkland, 64, of Ladson, SC, passed away October 4, 2023. He was born November 21, 1958, in Upland, CA.

Michael dedicated 20 yrs of his life to serving his country. The first 2 yrs in the Army and 18 yrs in the US Air Force. He proudly served his military associations in Alaska, California, Germany and South Carolina. He retired in 2000 in Charleston, SC. Most recently for the past 12 yrs Michael has been with Boeing. He had such a dedication to his work and the best relationships with his coworkers.

When he wasn't working, Michael enjoyed spending his free time at home reading and cooking. His favorites were always Clive Cussler and Louis L’Amour books. He had so many and would reread them too! He also had the best time grilling his ribs, chicken and pork chops.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Kirkland, daughter, Heather Taylor, son, Zachariah Kirkland (Lauren), grandchildren, Jason Taylor and Reagan Kirkland, mother, Joyce Burgess, sister, Lisa Di Meo (Andy), brothers Eric and Randy Kirkland, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Danielle Neurohr, and brother, Dennis Kirkland.

Michael will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
