Obituary of Michael S O'Neal

Michael S ONeal, 64
Beloved husband of Valerie O’Neal passed away from ALS on Thursday, September 28 surrounded by family. Michael was born April 16, 1959 in Cherry Point NC to Billy and Carol O’Neal. While growing up he moved with his military family around the southeast and Texas and spent his high school years in Irmo, SC where he graduated from high school. He received his Juris Doctorate from University of South Carolina and practiced law in the Charleston area for over 3 decades.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Valerie, his beloved children, Sean O’Neal, Emma & Robbie Powell, and Andrew O’Neal and his 3 precious grandchildren, Ava O’Neal, Scarlet O’Neal and Chase Powell,  sister Catherine O’Neal and family of Atlanta and step-mother Frances Lee O’Neal of Winnsboro, mother-in-law Delores Kruger of Arcadia IA, brother-in-laws Jeff Kruger (Judy) of Arcadia IA, Robert Kruger (Pam) of Paris TX, and many other extended family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Steven O’Neal and Brian O’Neal.

Besides spending time with his cherished family, Michael enjoyed exercising, bike riding, fishing, and cooking.

His family, friends, and contemporaries will miss the jokes he told for every occasion or just to make you laugh.

A celebration of his life will be planned for a later date.
