Obituary of Arthur Randall Fleming
Sadly, we have lost a special man, Arthur Randall “Randy” Fleming. 08/23/1960 – 10/13/2023.
Randy was born in Foley, Alabama on August 23rd, 1960. He was a southern boy, through and through. He loved to listen to a range of music, mostly from the 1970’s, but his favorite band was Lynyrd Skynyrd. Free Bird. Simple Man. Sweet Home Alabama.
Randy was born to be a blessing to everyone who met him. He was gentle, sweet, kind, loving, spunky, and funny. His favorite saying was “don’t tell me it can’t be done”. He could fix just about anything. He loved his family and friends with all his heart and would give every one of them the shirt off his back at any time. He loved to ride his motorcycle and go fishing with his friends as much as possible.
Randy worked in Tour Route Maintenance on the USS Yorktown at Patriot’s Point in Mt. Pleasant, SC for 32 years. He retired July 30th, 2021. His two greatest accomplishments there were being able to retire with benefits, and the life-long friendships he made while working there.
Randy was a member of First Baptist Church of Jedburg, but his favorite place to worship was with his Christian Motorcycle Friends “The Ungroup” at the many, many meals they ate together.
Randy and his wife, Sandy, had 16 years of adventures together. Riding the motorcycle, adventuring in the mountains, trips to Disney World, quality time with their grandson, family gatherings in Columbia, SC and Pensacola, FL. It was quite a ride.
Randy loved to go fishing with his best friend Jerry Dupree and his neighbor, Greg Dearing. They made a lot of special memories together. He loved to ride his motorcycle with his friends, he loved photography, fixing anything and everything, and helping any friend in need.
Surviving members of his family are his brother, Ricky (April) Fleming, stepsister Joanne (Roger) Mason Clifford (and their children), stepbrother Les Mason (and his son), his Uncle Arthur “Punky” Hartshorn (Ann), his aunt Esther Hartshorn, cousins Sharon and Trish (and their families), niece December Walker Spencer (and her family), his beloved son Raymond Warren Fleming (Lisa) and his loving daughter Kristina Michelle Sabatini (Devin). He adored his grandson, Devin Christopher Sabatini.
Randy was predeceased by his father, George Richard Fleming Sr. (05/13/1937 – 11/15/1977), his sister, Diana Lee Fleming Ard (11/30/1958 – 07/14/2017), his stepfather, Virgil Raymond (Ray) Mason (03/31/1939 – 11/30/2022), and his mother, Barbara Lee Hartshorn Mason (03/20/1938 – 09/26/2023).
Randy’s wish was to be cremated and his ashes scattered with his predeceased family members in Florida at a later date in a private service. There will not be a public memorial service. Randy never did like crowds.
Randy showed love for his wife and children until the day he passed, making sure they each had a generator to get them through the storms safely. He couldn’t rest until that was done. He had so much more he wanted to do. The last thing Randy saw was family and friends who loved him. The last thing he heard was words of love for him. He passed comfortably and peacefully with his heart full of love for all of us.
