Obituary of Cynthia Ann Troyer

Cynthia Ann Troyer, at the age of 75, passed away on October 20, 2023 surrounded by her family in North Charleston, SC.

Cindy was born November 6, 1947 in Marion, Indiana, to Charles and Kathryn Glassburn. On December 31, 1967 Cindy married Thomas Troyer of Kokomo, Indiana.

Cindy received Surgical Technology Training at St Joseph’s Memorial Hospital. Cindy was a successful Operating Room Technician in Texas, Indiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Cindy was also a dedicated Mental Health advocate tirelessly working to provide support for those in need. Cindy was the first person to take NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) outside of the United States. Through the years Cindy received several awards in recognition of her service to others including: 2003 National Media Awards from NAMI and the National Mental Health Association, 2007 NAMI SC Volunteer of the Year, and the Jefferson Award for Public Service.

Cindy was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior and a church member her entire life. Cindy touched many lives and served in the church as a Sunday School teacher, Piano Player, and assisted in starting several churches. In recent years Cindy was able to travel on many occasions to Ecuador as a Missionary, to support groups in the construction of buildings, teaching Bible School, and starting new churches. Cindy was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister in Christ.

Cindy was preceded in passing by her husband Tom, her father Charlie, and her mother Kathryn. Cindy is survived by her children, Kelly, Doug (Kim), Ryan (Stephanie), and her grandchildren, Brandon (Katie), Alex, Hudson (Eunice), Will, Charlie, Drew, and Ava.

A Celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at 3:00PM on Friday October 27, at First Presbyterian Church in the Harper Chapel at 200 W Washington St Greenville, SC 29601. The family will receive friends at 2:30PM
