Obituary of Alfred Anthony Mellis

Alfred Anthony "Al" Mellis passed away on May 25, 2024, in Goose Creek, South Carolina, at the age of 77. He was born on July 25, 1946, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Al led a remarkable life filled with diverse experiences. He proudly served in the Canadian Navy, where he honed his skills as a chef, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. Al's career path included work in Canadian Intelligence, lithography, and as a regional manager with London Life Insurance. In retirement he migrated to the US, and delved into website development, reality TV, and maintained enduring relationships with reality TV personalities. Al was known for his webmaster role at TVGrapevine and Facebook's Big Brother to Go.

Al is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Mellis, sister Ramira Mellis, son Paul Anthony Mellis, stepchildren MeLynda Culbertson, Matthew Paddock, and Carrie Nesbitt, as well as 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren, and 5 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Susanne Marie Mellis and his parents, Helen Deans Joyce and Robert Barnes Mellis.

An avid computer enthusiast, Al's hobbies included building and working with computers, volunteering with SETI@home, and remodeling homes, including his own and his stepson's.

Memorial Services in honor of Al's life will be held on Saturday, June 15, at 3:00 P.M. at Simplicity Lowcountry, 281 Treeland Drive, in Ladson, South Carolina.

In lieu of cut flowers, and in honor of Al's memory, garden plantings are appreciated. Contributions will assist in transporting Al to Vancouver for a Canadian family and friends memorial occasion.

Simplicity Lowcountry, located at 281 Treeland Drive in Ladson, South Carolina, is assisting with the funeral arrangements.
