Obituary of Timothy Rigsby

Timothy “Tim” Alan Rigsby, 62, of Ladson, SC, passed away on November 2, 2018, holding the hand of his best friend and love.  Born July 9, 1956, Tim was the son of the late Charles Mitchell Rigsby, Jr. and Dorothy Frances (Moorer) Rigsby, raised in Charleston, SC.  Tim followed in his Momma’s footsteps and graduated from the College of Charleston, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology, and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity where he served as its President. 
For twenty-five years, Tim worked at Westvāco (MeadWestvāco) in both the Research and
Oleochemicals Divisions, for two years the Pentagon and most recently, for World Express Courier based at the Summerville Medical Center.
Tim was captivated by stories.  He shared a passion for Genealogy with his Momma, volunteering at Middleton Place, Charleston, as a house docent for many years taking a step into the past to enlighten the present.  Tim had a tender heart and a true love of their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chai.  He supported Mary Beth and Chai in their work as a Registered Pet Therapy Team for 11 years.  Their favorite visit was to MUSC's STAR Day Treatment Program for Children.  Tim always adding something special to hand out to the children, like Chai stickers or buying dry rice to make rice socks for Charleston Animal Society's pets that needed extra warmth.  He was a member of TAPPI Pulp & Paper, Pine Chemicals Association, German Friendly Society and Son's of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Tim loved the serene beauty of the mountain skyline, watching the colors come alive welcoming fall.  Good times, good friends and family were the highlights of Tim’s life.  Tim enjoyed preparing a home cooked meal to share stories and make memories with those closest to his heart.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Mary Beth (Martin) Rigsby, his only daughter, Emily Ann Risgby, Charleston; brother, Kenneth Mitchell Rigsby (Kathy), James Island, nephews Alexander M. Rigsby and Noah C. Rigsby; sister, Jennifer Rigsby Pustaver, Montgomery, Alabama, niece, Mallory N. Echols (Matt), and nephew, Richard C. Pustaver; and three great nephews.  He also shared a very special relationship with Aunt Joann and Uncle Bob McGregor.
Beyond his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his in-laws, Francis Joseph Martin and Margaret Rita (Winfield) Martin and his beloved Chai.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018, 1pm-4pm at the Clubhouse at King’s Grant located at 222 Fairington Drive, Summerville, SC  29485.  The Memorial Service will begin at 1:30pm.
