Obituary of Hortense Mary Garrell

Hortensia "Mary" Garrell, age 82, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019, at Trident Medical Center. She was born in Tampa, Florida, October 13, 1936 to Ralph and Estella Penton.

Married to Ralph Riccardo Sr., She moved to Charleston in the early 1960s and among other jobs, ran a Daycare for 11 years.

Later, married to Frank Garrell, she Managed USA Petroleum in Goose Creek, and later, in Summerville (Oakbrook Shopping Center)

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Mary will be remembered by her friends and family by the love she felt for them, the way she enjoyed and decorated for the holidays, the many delicious meals she made, the time she spent with her grandchildren, and her little chihuahuas, her love for the color purple, and her independent and feisty nature and her love for shopping. She will be missed by many.

Surviving Mary, is her son, Ralph Riccardo Jr., of Summerville S.C.; her daughter, Deana Reed and her husband, Thomas Reed, of Summerville S.C.; her grandchildren, Amanda Riccardo and her fiancé, Nick Faircloth, of Taylors, S.C.; Jonathan Riccardo, and his fiancé, Jackie Bryan, of Cottageville, S.C.; Kathryn Mary and husband, Stacey Jack Shoop of Clearwater, Florida; Thomas Reed Jr. of Summerville, S.C.; and Amber and Ethan Dee, of Greer, S.C.; Tara and Jordan Neuroth, of Walterboro, S.C.; her great grandchildren, Cailyn and Madison Richards and Elliana Riccardo of Cottageville, S.C., Leo, Eli, and Aslynne Faircloth of Taylors, S.C.; Chassidy, Alexandria, and Aria Shoop, of Clearwater, Florida; Kaylee Neuroth, of Walterboro, S.C.; her step daughter Dawn Gilliland and family; her former daughter-in-law, Sherri Gilliland, and close family friend, Danny Wilburn.
