Obituary of Marvin Mark Stanley

Marvin Mark Stanley, 58, formerly of Gettysburg, PA, passed away, Friday, January 25, 2019 at his home in Summerville, SC. Born October 2, 1960 in Jennersville, PA he was the son of the late Marvin Lewis and Florence Ida (Jones) Stanley. He was the husband of 19 years to Mary Elizabeth (Carbaugh) Stanley whom he married in Gettysburg, PA on December 11, 1999

Marvin was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force from 1981 through 1985, as a crew chief on the F-16.

Marvin graduated from Solanco High School and later obtained his Bachelor’s of Science in Pastoral Ministry from Valley Forge Christian College in 1994.

He was a Pastor of Freedom Valley Church from 1995 till August 2015 when he and his family move to Summerville SC, to embark on a new calling. He began serving and ministering there with Riverland Church where he was a pastor and trustee until his death.

Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family. It truly was his greatest joy. He loved watching his children in their endeavors whether on a sports field or a dance floor. Marvin loved crafts and woodworking with his wife. He helped cultivate everyones imaginations and inspired them to be who God called them to be and not conform to the world. He embraced their gifts as if they were his and allowed them to express themselves.

In addition to his his wife, Marvin is survived by four children Quinton, Owen , Lydia and Noah,  2 brothers, 3 sisters. He was proceeded in death by one brother.

A celebration of Marvin’s life will held 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, Inc., 281 Treeland Drive Suite C, Ladson, SC. His pastor, the Rev. Jeff Centers and Gerry Stoltzfoos will officiate. Military Honors shall be accorded by the United States Air Force.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.

A second Celebration of Life service will be held at the Intersection Church, 1980 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, PA 17325, Thursday January 31, 2019. Visitation will begin at 5:30 with service to follow at 7:00pm. This service will be officiated by Pastors Jeremiah Herbert and Gerry Stoltzfoos.
