Obituary of Paula Jean Wray

Paula Jean Wray (Terpening), 73, loving mother of five children, passed away February 13th, 2019 in the comfort of her home in Summerville, SC. Born November 5th, 1945 in Fulton, NY. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Terpening and Dorothy Terpening (Roller). 

Paula was a graduate of G Ray Bodley High School and attended SUNY Oswego. Living in Fulton, NY for the next 40 years, Paula raised five children while helping her husband Jim own and operate a local diner for nearly 20 years. After selling the diner, Paula worked as a staff accountant for the Fulton Housing Authority eventually being promoted to its Director. Paula retired from the housing authority after nearly 10 years as its Director, prior to relocating to Charleston, South Carolina. Paula was an active member of her church and loved to sing in the choir. She was an avid reader, loved to travel and was an expert at crossword puzzles. Paula lived life to the fullest with her church family and their many activities, causes and charitable works.

She was predeceased by her husband James R. Wray III and her sister Phyliss Holmes (Terpening). She is survived by her children, Richard (Diane) Wray of Pennsylvania, Laurel (James) Cole of New York, James (Beth) Wray IV of Pennsylvania, Aaron (Ket) Wray of Florida and Jonathan (Jessica) Wray of South Carolina. She leaves behind eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her siblings Phillip (Cheryl) Terpening of Arizona, Frank (Lissa) Terpening of Colorado, Joan (Pete) Case of New York, Kenneth (Inga) Terpening of California and other loving relatives and close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 4PM Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the St. Timothy Lutheran Church on 200 S. Goose Creek Boulevard, Goose Creek, SC (Flowers Delivered to 240 Reagan Drive, Summerville, SC 29486). In Lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The ALS Association South Carolina Chapter, 7499 Parklane Road, Suite 144, Columbia, SC 29223.
