Olin DeLeon Johnston ST. GEORGE, SC -

Olin DeLeon Johnston, 81 of St. George, beloved husband, father, and grandfather entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Olin was born on March 28, 1937 in Scranton, South Carolina, to the late Flossie Aliene Blakely Johnston and the late Hyotte Cary Johnston. He graduated from St. George High School, was an Army Veteran, and retired as a physical science technician from Charleston Naval Shipyard. Olin is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Hilda Shieder Johnston. Olin is also survived by his son, Joey (Lisa) Johnston; daughters, Terri (Wayne) Braswell and LaBeth McDonnell; grandchildren, Tommy (Shelley) Braswell, Tracy Braswell, Grayson McDonnell, Tate McDonnell, and Elizabeth Johnston; and great-grandchildren, Riley Braswell, Liam Braswell and Leo Mobley, III; special in-laws Mack (Linda) Shieder, Anette (Charles) Garrick, Eunice Shieder, Emily Craven, Lenora Johnston and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Cary Joe Johnston; brothers, Hyotte Johnston and Laverne Johnston; and sisters Eloise Riggins, Geraldine Marchant, and Johnnie Law. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Jack. He was a past deacon and Sunday School teacher at St. Matthew's Baptist Church. Donations in Olin's name to Alzheimer's Association and Heartland Hospice, 1470 Tobias Gadson Blvd, Suite 203, Charleston, SC 29407 are welcome and appreciated. Special thanks to Kay Holman, Kevin Hinton, Annlea Dimitriadis, and Charmaine Colleton of Heartland Hospice. Visitation will be Friday, May 18 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Family Residence, 215 Quaker Rd, St. George, South Carolina, 29477. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew's Baptist Church, 2593 Wire Rd, St. George, South Carolina, 29477.
