Obituary of Susan Dale Wimbley

Susan Dale Wimbley, 72, of Summerville, died peacefully on May 12, 2018, surrounded by family at the home of friend and caregiver Sallie Norman in Goose Creek. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 20, 1945, the daughter of the late Allen Edward Frieman and Selma Florence (Rosenthal) Frieman. Raised in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Susan attended the Owensville School, Southern Junior-Senior High School, and Towson State University. After completing her education, Susan spent several years as a mother and homemaker in the Baltimore area. She then began a twenty-year career in public service, retiring as an assistant in the office of Permits and Development Management for Baltimore County, Maryland. Later becoming an accomplished artist, Susan won numerous awards for her work, most recently including first and second place in the Coastal Carolina Fair and the Goose Creek Artists Guild Art Show. Her favorite subjects included portraits and religious imagery. Besides her art, Susan enjoyed spending time with friends, travel, gardening, decorating, and animals. She also especially enjoyed being an active participant in her church, and donated much of the proceeds from the sale of her artwork to local charities. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara Lynne (Frieman) Lopez, nephews Derek and Justin, granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Drummond, and her husband John Leon “Jack” Wimbley. She is survived by her daughters Kimberly Sue (Kazlo) Warne and Kelly Anne Kazlo, grandsons Matthew Tyler Drummond and Nicholas Ethan Drummond, and step children Charles Wimbley and Carol Harvey. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Metro North Church in Goose Creek, South Carolina.
