I can't think of many people who have been kinder to me than Svetla, and that's probably true for the many friends she left behind. So kind, so pretty, and so smart. She could catch onto a new idea in a second.
She, George, and Dori came to our country with very little in the way of material possessions, and over time, they all did very well, with Svetla becoming a valuable part of the Berkeley County Library system, and Dori an honor student and later a successful restaurateur. I enjoyed hearing her speak of life in Bulgaria, such as the $1 hair cuts, and her trying to teach William B. a few words of Bulgarian.
I'm thinking now of her wonderful breads, cakes, and baklava. Her friends often called upon her to make hand decorated cakes for their special occasions.
My life won't be the same without her, and in her memory, I'm encouraging all who knew her to do a monthly self-exam.
Love you, Patricia
