Obituary of Charlie Fay Forbes

CHARLIE FAYE HOWELL FORBES, 88, of North Charleston, SC passed away on June 28, 2021 in Charleston, SC. She was born on July 4, 1932 in Marlboro County, SC to Beulah Mae and Charlie Davis Howell. She was widowed by the late Marvin Joshua Forbes and is preceded in death by two children, Sharis “Tuffy” Elaine Evans and Scott Larrimore Forbes. She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Knoepfel (Rick) and Heather Holland (Bill). Also 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the Shield of Faith Church at 1612 Foster Creek Road, Hanahan, SC on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Tilton officiating and Dr. Bill Davis sharing some memories. Family visitation will commence at 11:00 a.m. followed by public visitation at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Gardens. She was loved by everyone she met and known for being a spicy, witty and giving lady. She called herself a “friend of God”, and treasured her Bible. She is the matriarch that kept the faith, attended church regularly, and encouraged her family in the Christian faith. She attended Hanahan Baptist Church, Blessed Hope Baptist Church and most recently the Shield of Faith Church. She was known to leave gospel tracts everywhere she went. She was also a member of the Gideons and enjoyed passing out Bibles, supporting her missionaries and the Jews and listening to BBN radio 24/7 at 90.7 FM. After the passing of her husband, “Faye” and Scott became inseparable and were known to go on many adventures around the Lowcountry together. She had many intricacies that made her unique including her love for raw lemons, coffee so strong that “it could walk”; ice-cold Pepsi, (strawberry) Oui French yogurt and passion flowers. Some of her grands called her “Mama Charlie” and others called her “Ninny”. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Thank-you Lord for our one of a kind mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She gave us Your godly heritage, set Your example and led us to You Lord.
