Granddad, I will miss you terribly. You cared for and loved your grandkids so much and I hope you always knew we cared for and loved you even more. You lived a fascinating life and I only wish I could've gotten to hear more stories from you about your many adventures. You were a generous and thoughtful man and I can never ever thank you enough for the help and support you gave me both as a kid and in my adult life. I hope to one day be the type of grandfather that you were to me. I'm incredibly thankful I got to spend the better part of your last 10 years being geographically close to you so I could see you as often as possible. You're no longer suffering in your earthly body and it makes me so happy to know you're in a place now where there is only joy and peace. I'll see you again one day, Granddad. Watch over us for now xx

Dad,
Its never going to be easy to say goodbye to you dad.I knew this day would come. I just want to thank you for teaching me to climb mountains with my life, using the courage and strength you gave me. You fought so hard with so many battles in your life but never gave up. I always admired your wisdom and love.
I will always miss our chats and your amazing visits to our home every year. Our love between us will never end, it will go on untill we meet again.
Please keep that twinkle in your eye and watch over me with mum. God Bless. Love you always and forever. Your daughter Brenda xxx

Grandpa, there are so many things I’ll miss about you. From coming to the Isle of Wight with 5 minutes notice, and coming to collect you with your suitcase brimming with our favourite cinnamon pop tarts. I’ll miss your cabbage curry, which tasted better than it sounded! And going to the pub where you’d always insist on having scampi and chips every time we went! But most of all I’ll miss your wisdom, advice and life stories which you passed down to us. Your determination, strength and love of adventure is something you’ve passed down to me. A wonderful, varied life, which enriched us all. And thankfully it’s all written down in your ‘Passions of a youth’ book, which we will all cherish! We’ll all miss you dearly. Love from your grandson, Liam x

For my Grandfather. I will always remember you. Every year you would come to the Isle of Wight with a suitcase full of pop tarts and it would be the best time of the year. I will remember you teaching me chess... and never letting me win!
Years later I would come and collect you from the airport or the harbour on those occasions where you still wanted to come here and see us all. Even though it wasn’t the easiest thing to do for yourself, you always showed us how strong minded and determined you were. You taught me about your work ethic and how you wrote everything down, and how this was the key to remembering! I will always be grateful for that and I will carry it with me forever.
Love you always.
Your grandson,
Josh x

Dad,
Thank you for the wonderful 60 years you spent raising, encouraging, and challenging me to become the man I am. You taught me the responsibility of finishing strong at anything I started and loyal commitment to others.
You have left me and countless others an example of how anything is possible. Your adventurous spirit, strong faith in God, and positive attitude have always encouraged me and anyone else you came into contact with.
Of course, I will miss you dearly. As we worked through your health challenges during the last seven years, it was an honor assisting you in finishing your life’s race well. You’ll always be remembered and honored in our family. Please give Mom a hug and kiss for me as I know you are with her and you’ll both be looking down on me once in awhile.
Your loving son, John

From Brian Scovell (Uncle Pat’s brother-in-law)
Pat was a remarkable man. A navy man through and through and a successful naval architect who resided in India, Nova Scotia, Philadelphia, California and South Carolina.
He loved life and one of my best stories about him was when the plumbing was broken at my home in London and Pat volunteered to do some DIY plumbing and completely flooded our lovely home! He was banned from any further DIY jobs after that!
He has a wonderful sense of humour - he had to as he had 7 sisters! We will miss him dearly, he had an amazing, rich life. 94 years young x

To my Dear Uncle and Godfather Pat,
I owe you so much. Thank you for guiding me as a teenager and showing me the right path. For being my mentor and my shining light. God granted you an incredibly rich life and I shall never forget your support, your warmth and your generosity.
Rest in peace. My Mom (Audrey) will welcome you in her arms. Fly with the angels in paradise
