Obituary of Aven Leckie

Aven Leckie passed away at home on July 1, 2021. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maudine Tapley “Bigmomma”; and father, Ellis Leckie “Bigdaddy”; and granson Kip Ellis Grimball. He is survived by wife, Jenny Leckie; his sister, LaJuan Kennedy; two daughters Lisa Grimball and Priscilla Padgett; and grandchildren, Skylar, Cheyanne, Aven, Dakota, Hannah and Logan; but he was a Dad or Pops to many more. Aven  grew up on Folly Beach and moved to Edisto in 1971. He was a dedicated volunteer fireman and employee of the Town of Edisto Beach until his retirement.  The family would like to send out their appreciation for the love and support that they have received during this difficult time. 

A small service will be held at the New First Missionary Baptist Church on Hwy 174, Edisto Island at 2 o’clock on July 9th. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe sent to the New First Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 141, Edisto Island, SC 29438.
