Obituary of Nancy Mary Young

Nancy Mary Young, 68, of Goose Creek, passed away from her two year battle with lung cancer on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Trident Medical Center.

Nancy was born on September 20, 1952 in Michigan, the daughter of the late Duane and Gloria Van Acker.  Her brother, Thomas Van Acker preceded her in death.   She was a graduate of Lakeshore High School and spent many years serving as a receptionist in both the medical and education fields. 

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jerry D. Young; her 2 daughters, JoAnne D. Standiford of New Orleans, LA and Kelly Young (Ian) of Maple Valley, WA; her grandchildren, Matthew Standiford (Reagan), Rebecca Standiford, Zachery Standiford (Ali), Vivian Young, and Sawyer Young; her siblings, Gerald Van Acker, Suzanne Morgia, James Van Acker (Marie), Michael Van Acker (Lena), Gary Van Acker, and Richard Van Acker; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 2:00-3:00 pm at Simplicity (281 Treeland Drive Ladson, SC 29456).  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, her favorite charity.
