Obituary of James R Baxley

James R. Baxley, 72, of Summerville, SC, peacefully went home to be with the Lord. He passed away on August 1, 2021, with his family by his side. James was born September 2, 1948, to the late Marion and Melvideen Baxley. He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He spent most of his summers on the farm with his grandparents in Lakeview, South Carolina. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

James served his country in the Navy on the USS THOR (ARC 4). During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal.

James is survived by his; brother Marion (Butch) Baxley Jr. (Dee) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Crystal DeRosia (Ben) of Summerville, S; three grandchildren, Brittney (Nate) of Grand Haven, MI, Courtney (Michael) of Summerville, SC and Aiden, with one great grandchild, Emily. 

James is predeceased in death by his parents, Marion and Melvideen Baxley and wife Sidney Potter. 

The family would like to thank all whom have supported them through encouragement and love during this difficult time, especially Ms. Peggy of Nightngale Nursing and Attendants of Charleston, Mr. Brooks from NHC Home Care, and Ms. Amy, Mr. Jacob and staff of Caris Healthcare (Hospice).  James’s family witnessed unexpected favor and blessings during his last days. They thank God for His presence in their lives.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
