Obituary of Shirleen Sturn

Shirleen Sturn, 69, of Ladson SC, passed away unexpectedly on 7/8/2021. She resided with her daughter, son in law, & 2 grandchildren. Shirleen loved her children and grandchildren with her whole being. The grandchildren were the light of her life, she lived for them.

Shirleen graduated from nursing school in 1983. Thereafter, she began her career as a LPN, licensed in New Jersey. In 1991, she became a registered nurse. She had over 20 years of experience in a variety of healthcare settings. Including acute care hospital, rehabilitation centers, state correctional facilities, home care, and managed care. She loved her job and caring for others, it’s what she was passionate about. She then retired in 2012.

Shirleen loved to travel! One of her favorite destinations was the Florida keys. As one of her final wishes, she wanted some of her remains dispersed in the Florida Keys. She also loved cooking; You could always find her in the kitchen making something delicious. She was also very creative and enjoyed making memorable unique crafts.

Shirleen is survived by one sister, Sheila Proko, Lake Hiawatha, NJ; her sons, Lenny Heda (44), Weston FL; Erik Heda (38), Holly Springs, NC; and Brandon Burns (31) Myrtle beach SC; her daughter, Shannon Bennett (29), Ladson SC; and 5 grandchildren, Alex Heda (13), Madison Heda (11), Zackary Bennett (10), Donald “Bubba” Bennett (7) and Aiden Bennett (4).

Shirleen is predeceased in death by her parents, Clarence J Sturn, (former trainman) Helen M Sturn, (former RN).
