Obituary of Thelma Steffy

Thelma Steffy, age 72, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday August 15, 2021.

Thelma was born to Enos and Blanche Moore on September 6, 1948 in Alvin, Texas.  After graduating from Santa Fe High School, Thelma enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  While stationed at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island she met Robert Steffy.  The two would later marry in Dallas, Texas November 14, 1970.

Thelma was very active in her children’s school, often chaperoning field trips and school activities.  She was also a Girl Scout troop leader for many years leading girls on numerous campouts and participating in community service projects, mentoring them and guiding them to be well rounded young ladies.  Thelma had a love of gardening.  On any given day you could find her planting and growing beautiful things.  She was extremely proud of her roses, hydrangeas and gladiolus.  She loved her daughters very much but was over the moon with love and pride for her grandchildren and great grandson.  Her favorite band was the Beatles and she thought Ringo Starr was the bees knees! She was most recently employed with FedSec Inc, a security guard service on Detyens Shipyard.

Thelma was predeceased by her husband Robert.  She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Holsopple (Shaun), Tammy Sandmire (Mike Bell), Kristy Steffy, and Grandchildren Slade Sandmire (Samantha), Damon Holt, Maya Holsopple, Shelby Steffy and Great Grandson Finley Sandmire.

A private family service will be held to honor the life and legacy of Thelma Steffy.
