Obituary of David R. Kirby

David R. Kirby, 63, of Dorchester, SC, passed away on August 18, 2021. Mr. Kirby was born in Pennsylvania on November 27, 1957, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Raymond and Naomi G. Kirby.

A hardworking provider who assumed roles in many professions over the course of his career, David most recently worked as a janitorial custodian. For many years, he was also a dedicated volunteer firefighter at Hampden Steam Fire Engine Company #6 in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, where he was warmly known as "Squeaky" by his fellow firemen. In addition to his love of fishing, hunting, looking at antique cars, and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, David liked traveling with his family - and especially liked Knoebels Amusement Resort in Pennsylvania. David also cherished spending time with his family: he was the proud father of the late Jonathan Kirby with his wife, Ann (Ash) Kirby, whom he met at the Little Boy Dutch Bakery in Pennsylvania over 35 years ago.

Alongside his dear wife, David is survived by his brother, Donald (Brenda) Kirby; his sister, Charlotte Kirby; his niece, Amanda; and countless friends and coworkers.

A joint memorial service for David and his son Jonathan, who passed away on August 28, 2021, will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. at Victory Fellowship Church, 1286 State Road, Summerville, SC 29483.

David will be sorely missed and fondly remembered always.
