Obituary of Charles W Ellis, III

Bud Ellis, 80, of Summerville, SC passed away on November 1, 2021 after a long illness. His immediate family members and his beloved bride of 60 years were by his side during his last days of life.

Bud was born to Charles Wesley ‘Wes’ Ellis, Jr. and Josephine ‘JoAnne’ Evarts of Milford, Connecticut on April 29th, 1941. His family relocated to Hollywood, Florida when he was a child. It was in Hollywood he met his beloved bride, Judy Pry while a high school student.

After graduation from South Broward High School, Bud attended the University of Florida. He then worked in sales and management throughout his long and successful career. Bud’s trademark leadership style was to work hard with a smile and treat every employee and customer the way he wished to be treated. Because of this attribute, Bud was very successful in business and was loved by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Bud was an avid sports fan and especially loved college football (his favorite Florida Gators) and NASCAR. On the weekends when he wasn’t working, Bud was gardening, watching sports, reading, cooking, grilling, or driving his red truck through town. Bud loved to spend time with family and would do so as much as possible throughout his life.

Bud is survived by his wife Judy, his brother-in-law Bill Pry, his aunt-in-law Joanne Snyder, his son Scott Ellis and his daughters Barbara Ellis and Joanne Dourado (Chris). He is also survived by his granddaughters Brook Ellis, Rachael Hanlon (Eric) and Sydney Dourado as well as great-grandsons James and Ronin Hanlon. He also will be missed by his extended family, including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bud will be celebrated by his close family in a small service at the oceanside. In lieu of flowers or other mementos, the family asks that you consider donations to your local animal shelter or rescue agency in his name. Donating to animals in need would make his heart very happy.
