Obituary of Joe Dale Sturgill

On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, Joe Dale Sturgill, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 55. Joe was born on June 12, 1966, in Alexandria, VA to Clarence and Patsy (Martin) Sturgill.

On September 6, 2003, he married Kimberly McNally Sturgill. They have one daughter, Mckayla, who was his world and his “mini me”.

Joe loved to cook and travel. He was a Dr. Who fan and loved his British TV Shows. He had a passion for military history and weapons. Joe had a real soft spot for animals. He loved his German Shepherds and birds. He was a prankster who loved to pull pranks on his wife, daughter, and coworkers.

Joe served 6.5 years in the United States Army. For the last 13 years, he worked for NIWC. At work he was known as the one who would tackle the hard tasks and make them come out perfect.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kimberly; his daughter, Mckayla; his parents, Clarence and Patsy Sturgill and his brother, William Sturgill, of Chilhowie, VA; his sister, Deanna Sturgill of Bristol, VA, his in-laws Phillip and Genevieve McNally of Stafford, VA; and several nieces and a nephew.

A Graveside service will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Beaufort National Cemetery at 2pm. Flowers or donations may be sent to 101 Pavilion Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
