Edgar James

Obituary of Edgar Stevenson James

Edgar James of Summerville, SC was born on April 22, 1971 in Beaufort, North Carolina.  He was the only son of the late Leo James and late Dorothy James Breedlove.

Edgar dedicated his life to Jehovah and symbolized it by water baptism as a Jehovah’s Witness on October 12, 1985. He worked for many years as the Operations Executive Manager at Verizon Wireless.

While serving as a congregation Elder in his religion, he had the privilege of entering the full-time ministry, also known as a “Regular Pioneer”. The privilege of being a ‘Regular Pioneer’ was a family priority that he, his wife Tanya, and daughter Kiera actively enjoyed together.  One thing that stood out about Edgar was his love for God’s Word, his reliance on Jehovah, and his eagerness to apply Bible principles. Edgar had a strong love for his family, Jehovah’s organization, and the congregation. This love gave him a humble, encouraging, and self-less personality.

Edgar married the love of his life Tanya on July 20, 1996, and took his Biblical responsibility of headship and love for his family seriously. This union produced a precious daughter, Kiera James, who he spent many hours nurturing intellectually and spiritually. He exercised loving headship and was refreshing to his family in both spiritual and personal ways. Edgar’s example provided the security to his family that he was always approachable to discuss any topic at any time. Edgar was the head of his family for 27 wonderful years.

Edgar also shared a great love for his sisters, Petra James, Miranda James, and Josie Perez. Edgar also leaves behind a caring stepmother, Carolyn James. He also leaves behind an extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces; all of whom he loved very much.  Edgar will be deeply missed by them all.

As Edgar sleeps, our heart breaks, and we feel a deep emptiness, but please fill your heart with the  positive hope that Jehovah gives us from his Word.  He wants us all to be strong and we will see him again in paradise. That sentiment was included in Edgar’s prayer every night.  Remember, in just a little while, we will see Edgar again and fill his heart with joy because we all made it to “real life” in paradise. (Revelation 21:3, 4).

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1:30 pm. The location is Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4600 Appian Way, North Charleston, SC 29420.
