Obituary of Robert Cirelli

Robert Cirelli, 80,of Summerville SC, beloved husband of Donna (Ramey) Cirelli, passed away, Sunday January 7th after complication from pneumonia. His loving family was by his side. He was born in Waterbury CT on March 21st, 1943, to the late Philip W Cirelli, and Yolanda Zaccaria. He grew up in the Oakville area and was a graduate of W.F. Kaynor Technical High School. Robert joined the Air Force and served as an ICBM Mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1966. 

 

Robert had a passion for community, apon moving to South Carolina, he joined Miles Road Baptist Church. In Ct he was a member of The First Baptist church of Tolland CT where he served as deacon for many years.  He was also passionate about cooking and eating.  Bob owned a couple of successful restaurants in Tolland Ct and Vernon Ct.  He was a Boy Scout Leader for several years.  Bob loved spending time with his boys and camping trips with the family.  He had bought a small tow behind camper that we took on our big camping trip from Connecticut to Arkansas to visit family.  It was a memorable adventure all the way to Arkansas and back.  He also loved camping with his best friends, the Allard's.  His greatest joy was his grandchildren.   His favorite times were family gatherings where the entire family could be together. 

 

Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Donna.  His sister Norma and brother-in-law Louis. He is survived by his 4 children, Philip (Judy) Cirelli of Haleyville SC, Michael Cirelli of Egg Harbor Township NJ, Robert (Mellisa) Cirelli of Huntington Beach CA and Matthew Cirelli of Pomfret CT.  His sister Phyllis (Edward) Polhemus of Toms River NJ and sister Joan (Frank) Gugliotti of Oakville CT.  Robert is also survived by his grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Venessa, Logan, Christian, Jordan, and Nathan Cirelli. 

 

We would like to thank the physicians, nurses and all the staff at Ralph H Johnson VA Medical center for the wonderful job they have done for Robert.  We especially wish to thank the ICU staff that cared for and treated, not only Robert, but the family with kindness and respect during the 46 days in ICU. You all are truly amazing! 

 

A service to celebrate Robert's life will be Friday February 2, 2024, at 11:00 am. at Miles Road Baptist Church, 816 Miles Jamison Rd.
