Obituary of Sarah Mae Smith-Laidlaw

Sarah Mae Smith-Laidlaw, 64, born on February 22,1959 to Mary Mae Sisk and Oregon Smith of Hampton county, South Carolina. Sarah, passed peacefully in Ladson, South Carolina on January 13, 2024, due to chronic respiratory distress and cardiovascular complications; she was surrounded by family and friends leading up to the days of her passing in hospice care. 

Sarah leaves behind a loving and devoted husband and life partner of over 25 years, Michael Laidlaw, residing currently in Moncks Corner; as well as daughter Jennifer and granddaughter, Adrianna Williams; also brother and sister-in law, Jack and Rebecca “Becky” Smith; as well as former husband Jerry Williams.

While Sarah does leave some behind, she is now within the gates of heaven, with her 2 sons, Chris Williams and gone before birth, baby Avant, as well as her mother and father, Mary and Oregon Smith; and brother, Thomas Smith.

Those close to Sarah, can describe her as caring, loving, kind, and could always find laughter even towards the end. Sarah’s hobbies included sewing, creating basket-arrangements, shopping, painting, and spending time with the Earth, growing many and various plants, fruits, and vegetables, on occasion florals. Sarah also enjoyed traveling and often vacationed in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. Sarah, nicknamed “Sadie” will be missed immensely and thought of fondly. 

A private ceremony and or celebration of life will be held by family in days to come.
